Welcome to "HealthyPups.com"  PUPS for SALE!  25 years experience!

OUR COMPETITION?

-30% (?) of the puppies sold in the U.S. each year go home and die of viruses alone, after billions in vet bills.

-50% (?) have internal or external parasites and related health issues needing expensive veterinary care almost immediately.

-90% (?) of puppies still too young for rabies vaccine to be given (less than 16 weeks) have been housed or kept by the seller in such a way that the buyer can’t be absolutely sure that their entire family won’t need rabies shots at $4000.00 per person next week due to accidental wildlife exposures.

-90% (?) of puppy buyers  think this won’t happen to them, even though  hospitals in N.C. are routinely giving enough rabies vaccines for humans that they need designated rabies personnel on staff.

-90% of uneducated and childish puppy buyers will still become victims of their emotions and buy the cutest, cheapest, or most convenient to see puppy in spite of these facts.  This is why the average cost of buying a dog and keeping it for 10 years in the U.S. is estimated to be $13,500.00.

-90% of those who will actually read the material on this website will  educate themselves and buy their pet from us because they don't want to be included in the statistics above, and will actually love their dog later!

Male or female? DID YOU KNOW?...that most male puppies will grow up to squat and urinate like a female if neutered promptly at 6 months of age? Males are also often more confident than females and therefore less likely to urinate in the floor by accident when they get nervous or excited! With all other things in the environment being equal, male puppies seem to like women better, while female pups often prefer men! Although a high percentage of our puppies are likely to love most family members, there can sometimes be an advantage in choosing a pup opposite the sex of the pup's intended favorite person! So many women are in love with a look or with the idea of putting dresses on their pet or putting bows in its ears, that they improve the chances that the dog won't like them as their favorite person just because they bought a female puppy. The fact that so many of these female "girlie" pets are childish also contributes to this situation, because these are the pets that most often prefer men over female owners.

*Did you know? I have sold many pups to people who work as paid employees or volunteers to public animal shelters, including 4 puppies in the past two years to  "directors of animal control" (the supervisor and lead person who runs a public animal shelter).  They say that healthy small breed pups suitable for house pets are almost never available for adoption at most shelters, and that there is a serious need for our puppies. One woman bought a puppy from me after working in a public shelter in one of this area's largest cities for four years without being able to find a small breed that she wanted to adopt.  Most of the adoptable shelter pets are larger mixes that many feel are too large for indoor pets, but some smaller pets are sometimes available. Unfortunately, many of the large breed mixes would not be adopted even if professionally raised small breed puppies were not available, because many families simply don't want this type of indoor pet.  Large breeds are becoming less popular as neighbors and insurance providers are becoming less tolerant of them.  If you want a large pet,  you can easily find one  at the public shelters.  However, I would advise not getting one that's too young.  Since many of the shelter puppies have not had proper veterinary care from the beginning, it is not uncommon to have problems.  Another disadvantage is that one or both parents are often unknown, making it hard to be sure how big some of these will get or exactly what they might grow to look like.  In some years past, up to 50% of those puppies have died from viruses alone after producing huge vet bills.  This should encourage all to be  a good pet owner!  Spay/neuter your pet so these unwanted large breed mixes are not born!

The local humane society here is a volunteer organization that is doing a good job with animal placement assistance of the adoptable animals from the Wilkes County Animal Shelter.  If you would like to adopt a pet available animals can be seen at www.humanesocietyofwilkes.org.

Why buy a hybrid? Hybrids (intentional mixes) are physically and mentally healthier than most purebreds.  Rat Terriers, Beagles, and a few of the purebreds are a healthy genetics pet, but most purebred dogs are much more likely to have health problems than a hybrid. A purebred Rat Terrier is the most mentally and physically healthy of all our pets. I am sometimes dumbfounded by the questions people ask when calling about pets.  Some ask "are they registered", as if this makes them a greater prize.  I would estimate that at least one-third of the registered dogs that I have seen over the past 25 years were not purebreds AND I would also estimate that purebred line bred pedigreed show dogs are three times more likely to be mentally incompetent and have weird health problems and die young than Rat Terriers or hybrid mixes. I will never understand why some pet owners are dumb enough to think expensive registered show dogs are better.  You would be surprised if you knew how many of these tiny show champions don't live more than 3 years before having liver disease, kidney failure, or "too small" health problems because their health has been compromised by line breeding for show purposes just to make them look pretty. There was a time when your pedigreed show dog was once a mutt or mongrel before the word hybrid became popular. Line breeding for genetic refinement just to make them look pretty is likely the main thing that has in so many cases changed their mental and physical health while being bred to look as they do today. To buy a hybrid is one of the best ways to undo the damage that line breeding has done to so many of these pets. In short, the true value of a pet is in the happiness that it brings to our families, and not in its pedigree.

1. Below left photo: Ratadoodle pups!  The long coated variety of this is a high maintenance pet that will need frequent haircuts and grooming, while the broken coated ones don't require much grooming and maintenance.  Another designer hybrid!  Likely healthier and more intelligent than most of the purebred girlie pets, but you should NEVER buy a long haired dog if you don't want to spend lots of money on a pet. Even if you try to do the haircuts at home and not go to the beauty shop, related expenses that often occur in long coated dogs can cost enough over the life of your pet to buy a new car.  When someone looks at a picture like this, and calls me to ask how much in their first breath, I am really concerned that they are about to buy a pet that they will be very uncomfortable maintaining later. Buying a purebred girlie  pet can also increase the chances that your pet will be less intelligent later and more likely to have a shorter lifespan.

2. Below right photo: YorkieRat pup!  Likely healthier and easier to house train than purebred Yorkies!    A YorkieRat is likely to be a mentally and physically healthier pet than a purebred Yorkie because they are a Rat Terrier hybrid.  Although the YorkieRat may be a slight step down from the health and intelligence of a purebred Rat Terrier, they are a healthier genetics option for someone who is so into this look that they would buy a girlie pet at any cost because they think this is "soooo cute"!  Disadvantages with this one may be that some may stay too small to live as long as possible, or need haircuts,  because this genetic information may be inherited from the Yorkie parent.

ALLERGIES? Allergies in humans are in my opinion NOT GENETIC issues that can't be cured. This most often means that your body is not working right because your diet is not healthy.  It is also my opinion that children can be born with a less healthy immune system because their mother did not eat right.  If the allergy patient is not willing to undertake dietary changes, the next best option is to buy a hypoallergenic pet.  If you have questions regarding these issues, please call.   A hairless dog is the world's most PERFECT house pet!  No fleas or ticks without wearing poisons to prevent them, no expensive haircuts, no hair on the furniture, no clean-up! The softest, warmest, cleanest pet you'll ever own!  Decreased risk of flea and tick related illnesses in our children!  (600 humans get lyme disease in N.C. alone each year (30 die), while hundreds, especially children, get Rocky Mtn. spotted fever.) A hairless dog is the ONLY type of dog that DOES NOT SHED HAIR AND  NOT NEED $500.00-$1000.00 per year ($10,000.00 over 10 yrs?) IN HAIRCUTS AND OTHER LONG COAT RELATED HEALTH PROBLEMS AND EXPENSES!  It has none of the micro organisms that live on dogs to bite humans and make them itch!  Most of those allergic to animals or those with asthma can have one of these dogs with fewer asthma/allergy problems if they will care for the dog properly. In many cases as compared to other questionably hypo-allergenic long-haired non-shedding breeds, the need for allergy shots in your child could be eliminated by choosing hairless! Other dogs collect dust, pollen, mold spores, micro-organisms, allergens, and other irritants and bring them into our homes even if kept inside almost all the time, because they must go outside to urinate, etc. They also have nasty hair and dander that irritates many humans; sometimes without the person being aware that this is happening.  I suspect that many more people get migraines or bronchial issues because they are slightly allergic to pet related allergens than are aware of the fact that this has happened.  A hairless dog is the only real improvement in dealing with these issues!  Many of these have skin that LOOKS and FEELS like YOUR SKIN- just like holding your newborn baby without his clothes on or like snuggling with your shirtless spouse!  Not only are they practical, healthier, and problem solving, but they FEEL LIKE some of THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SENSATIONS in life that most normal uninhibited people love the most!  A hairless dog is the most frequent choice of the uninhibited, the most educated, medical professionals, allergy patients, or any other person who would buy a dog for all the intelligent reasons; and not just make a childish decision based on the way it looks.  Everyone LOVES their warmth, cleanliness, and healthfulness AND MANY ENJOY making or buying CLOTHES FOR THEM AND DRESSING THEM UP!  They are also likely to be the world's cheapest to own dog because most major pet related expenses and expensive pet related health problems in family members are reduced or eliminated by hairlessness! There's little doubt in my mind that God would have given all dogs skin like humans if he had created all breeds with the purpose of living indoors with us! Invest in your family's future today! A hairless dog is the ultimate intelligent choice for an indoor pet!   CLICK HERE to see photos of Hairless pups currently for sale!
